Goodness!

Yesterday, I got in my car to take the kids to school. My seatbelt wouldn't latch. Looked like something was stuck down in there. I tried to push the release button, no luck. Well, I just took John's car, no time to mess with that when you are running out the door. So, yesterday afternoon, he took a look at it. No luck with him either, so we took it to Mazda today. We just dropped it off because we had an appointment to go to, and who wants to sit there and wait anyway? Well, she called me and informed me that there was an internal jam in the "lock", and it would have to be replaced. Are you ready?? 90 bucks!!! What??? It's a seat belt fastener, for heaven's sake! But I have to have it. It's the driver's seatbelt, so you can't just scoot over and ignore it for awhile. And they have to order the part, so my car is sitting there. For an additional $7 they could overnight the part, so what the heck, I told them to go ahead and overnight it. Bye, bye a hundred bucks. Sure wasn't expecting that! And you know, I have no idea what jammed it, I had no problems with it at all the last time I took it off. It didn't stick or anything. Who would have thought?

"Bragger"

I'm not supposed to know this yet, but I have it on good authority that a certain 3rd grader, who will remain anonymous to protect the innocent teller of the tell, made a 100 on her TAKS test. It is the very first one she has ever taken, and I'm so proud that I'm about to bust my buttons!! I just couldn't wait until I "officially" knew, I had to go ahead and tell the world!

Good grief!

That post looks so dumb! I tried to be cute, by putting the word blue in blue letters and then ended up changing the color of the rest of the post. Pardon my snafu.

Put it up.....

This is partly for my sweet friend Kristen, I know she will appreciate it......Last night we went to Chuck E. Cheese with Hunter. Janae went to spend the night with a friend, and he was feeling a little blue. So we took him out to have some fun. We went in, ordered, and started walking around the corner when I saw her! This lady was sitting in the floor, between the places where you feed your tickets into the machines, across from the drinks. (Got all that???) She had her t-shirt hitched up and was nursing a little boy who was about 8 months old. NO BLANKET, no "thing-ie" that Kristen has. Just sitting out there in the middle of everyone letting it all hang out. I was shocked! Nursing babies do not generally bother me what-so-ever. You usually know that's what they are doing, but you aren't looking at mom's middle, hoping that mom's top stays covered up. My, my, my, my, my. Hunter was too interested in finding a game, he didn't even notice her, thank goodness! So beware, of CEC!! tee, hee

Orange Crush 'Em!!

I just have to share.....we are the orange crush, Hunter's basketball team, and today for after the game snacks, one of the mom's brought a case of orange crush soda! What a cute idea. She gave one to Janae as well. Both kids opened it, took one drink, and didn't want it. What's wrong with them?? Oh, well, it's probably pure sugar. But it was so cute. By the way, we won, 16-6, little Carson made at least 3 baskets, to be honest, I kinda lost count, but he was the star of the show today, and he only played 2 quarters. That Coach Bolton needs to play him more!!! tee, hee

Found!

This afternoon, Hunter was digging stuff out from under his bed. (He has buckets with toys in them under there for storage.) I told him to look again for the DS, and all of a sudden he yelled that he found it!! I had checked under there twice already, and hadn't seen it, but last night when I prayed about it, I asked God to just put it right where we would see it. So, we had a thank you prayer, and are very relieved. Thanks!!

DS is missing.....

Well, tonight I have a prayer request post. I cannot find Hunter's Nintendo DS that he just got for Christmas ANYWHERE! And to top it off, he had the brand new Mario Brother's game in it which was a week old and cost $35.00!!!! Tonight the kids were outside playing, while I was turning the house upside down for at least the 3rd time. The last time I saw it was at Market Street, we were in their little dining area for a meeting I had with some church ladies. I am 99.9999% sure it got home, Janae is positive it did. I did call today asking if it had been turned in, just in case. It had not, but that was about 10 days ago. It's one of those things that I triple check to make sure we have, so it doesn't get left anywhere. But....what's making me doubt is that I was absolutely, positively sure that I had Janae's jacket in my hands when we left basketball on Saturday, couldn't find it when we got home, so I called the church, and yes, it got left there. So, now I doubt myself that I triple checked that we were bringing home the DS. I am mostly positive that it is in this house, so I'm still looking. Tonight I had a revelation.....PRAY for some help from God!! HELLO!! So, I did, but He hasn't shown it to me yet. Dad doesn't know about this yet, it won't go over very well if we can't find it, so please pray with me that it will be found, and found quickly!!!

Taking a break.....

I'm taking a small break from doing some housework, so Hello!! Just swept and mopped the kitchen, and there's no telling how long it's been since I mopped it. I'd be afraid to even venture a guess, you would all be disgusted. On another note, I put my application into the school for the office. I don't know if anything will come of it, but Janae's 2nd and 3rd grade teachers have been after me to apply, and one of them called me the other morning and said that both of the office ladies are moving to the new school which will open this fall. So......there is an opening. Our assistant principal is moving to the principal here, and I saw her on Friday, and put "a bug in her ear". I see her everyday, so I wanted to put a face to a name for her. She seemed really encouraging about it, and I've asked Janae's teachers to put in a good word for me. Who knows what will happen, but I've about had it with the cleaning.....time to start thinking about moving on...

In court....

I had the most interesting day today. John was summoned to court to testify for a friend of his that was fighting for visitation with her grandson. I went along for moral support, and have to say that I was quite entertained. I completely understand why people go spend their days sitting in a courtroom just listening. It was all very interesting. John had to wait out in the hall since he was a witness, but I went in and sat. He had to be there at 9 this morning, was part of the defense, and the plaintiff went first. I sat through the testimony of the child's counselor, mother, maternal grandmother, and then the paternal grandmother, whom we were there for. Then we had a lunch recess. All of this was while John and the other witnesses were out in the hall. The whole case is a yucky mess, the mom has 4 kids, 4 different dads, is 25, unemployed, not in school, the whole family lives with the maternal grandmother. John's friend has monthly weekend visitation, to which the mother is trying to have taken away. So, John's position was basically to testify that the child is not harmed in any way while he is with his grandmother. As soon as we got back from lunch, they called John, he answered about 4 questions then we were released. I don't know the outcome, I'm praying that she doesn't lose the visitation, that child needs some positive influences in his life, especially a stable one. Whew, that mother looked so bad up there when she was testifying, talking about all the kids, different dads, doesn't know where any of them are, had kids with two other guys while married to yet another one, and I just hurt for those kids. Makes you realize that sometimes maybe your life isn't as bad as you think. You'd almost think that it was an actual custody hearing with the way things were going. I almost think he'd be better off if it was, but I'm not the one in charge or even involved. That judge got after mom, she couldn't even remember the last name of her last live-in boyfriend, or where she had met him, and he just had lived with her this past fall. Sounds like the ideal environment for a 8 year old boy, eh? Anyway, I was just there for moral support for grandmother and John, but I'm thinking that if I'm ever extremely bored, I can just jot down to the courthouse and see what's going on.....

Real E$tate

Again, today I have a house story. I'm taking my chances on posting this on the internet, but ah, well, what the heck. One of the houses that I clean is in Highland Oaks. As I got there today, there was a "for sale" sign. That was news to me. Of course, all the brochures and flyers are on the kitchen counter for potential buyers to look at. Well, even though I'm not a potential buyer, I looked at it. Then I knew for sure I wasn't a potential buyer. It's listed at $509,900. Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a 2 story, 4 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath, 3 car garage, an acre of land, basement, den, formal living and dining and study. I've been kinda sorta thinking about maybe looking into becoming a real estate agent, (I've got to get out of the cleaning business), but haven't pursued it, because I'm not a salesman what-so-ever, so I don't know how much luck I'd have. Although, I figured up 3% of that total, and it was over $15,000. I might be able to force myself to be a pushy sales-person.......
