Dang Mosquitoes!!

Argh!! We are being swarmed by mosquitoes!! I don't know where they are coming from, it hasn't been raining much in the last couple of weeks, but you can't go outside or open the door without a dozen of them racing in. They are huge! They are as big as flies and buzz around like flies as well. Makes me wonder about what a plague with them would be like! Yikes, and no thank you. Our "ex" next door neighbors, who for some reason moved away from us to go live in Houston, close to their son, said they are the worst thing about Houston right now, worse than the heat and humidity. (Hi Judy!)

So, the solution for the time being is this: Tiki torches. I went to trusty Wal-Mart after school today and loaded up on the fuel and bought a couple extra torches. So far, so good. We'll see when it gets good and dark. We put them right by the back porch so that when we open the door at night to let the dogs in and out, maybe we won't be swarmed. Now I will put out the fire when I go to bed, I'd hate for the thing to fall over and end up torching our house. I kinda like this house, and I've put waaaay to much time and energy into it to watch it go down in flames.
Now, no comments about a picture of a dead bug. If Kristen can post dead mouse pictures, and I'm sure Brooke has put worse on hers, although at the time being, I'm not sure what, then I can put a dead mosquito picture on mine. Dead is alot better than alive. I have to swat them, not take pictures of them as they are about to eat me.

A Dog's Life

Well, tonight I'm going to talk about my dogs. They are a part of the family, you know. Aztec is the yellow lab, and she is 10 years old. I've had her longer than I've had anyone else in the family. Now she is getting on up there in doggie years, and is getting quite cranky at times. She will be happy, although, if she is being fed. She is constantly looking for something to eat. It drives me absolutely crazy. That nose is always to the ground hunting for a crumb. Now Duchess is 3. We got her for John for Father's Day 3 years ago. He wanted an English Mastiff, so here came Duchess. She is a big girl, weighs about 125. Ironically, she kind of became my dog. Now hubs will argue with that, but that dog follows me all over the house, she doesn't want to go to bed until I do, and if hubs decides to mess with me, she's all over him. (It's kinda nice! ha, ha) Duchess is the sweetest dog in the world: if she knows you, but I'd be willing to bet that she would tear someone in half if she thought they were trouble. Aztec, on the other hand, would let anyone in if they had something to eat, but would tear you apart if you got in her face, and tried to love on her. So note to any intuders, watch out for the guard dogs!

I got pictures!

Look! I did pictures! First day of school! Kindergarten and 3rd grade!

Just trying this out!

Okay, well after dropping off my darlings at school today, I went and had breakfast with a friend, so that I wouldn't come home and cry in my cereal since my baby has now gone to kindergarten. He was just fine, and I actually was just fine. He's been in PDO since he was a baby, but I was there too, so I really was afraid that I was going to have a really hard time leaving him, but I did manage to without any tears. What do you know?

Then, after breakfast I had to go get the books for my hubby's new fall college semester. May I suggest to NEVER do that on the first day of school??? STUPID! I went out to Reese, they only had two, so I had to go on to Levelland for the other two. All had to be bought new because the used ones were gone, and the lines were so long, it's not even funny. I had to park about a 1/2 mile away from the bookstore and walk. And this is a community college!!! Now the good news is, that I was off today, and able to get it done. However, I have learned a lesson, not to put that off ever again. All the kids with financial aid were there, apparently this was the last day to buy books on financial aid.

So, after getting home, after spending the morning driving and walking!, I started uploading pictures off my new digital camera. Will somebody please advise on that because I had 70 pictures, and could only load them one at a time. Took quite awhile. And, after telling my breakfast friend, Brooke, that I wasn't going to start a blog today, I went to the website, and BAM, I did it.

Now, I don't want to leave out my darling daughter who started 3rd grade today, but she wasn't worried at all about me leaving her. If I would have stayed any longer, she'd have been pushing me out the door. She's too grown up for Mommy to be hanging around. 8 1/2 going on 18.

Okay, that's all for now, I'll figure out the picture thing, (have to buy a new camera battery first, used it up uploading all those pictures!!) and then will put pictures on here!
